The RM of Hillsburg, the RM of Shell River, and the Town of Roblin have decided to amalgamate into one municipality. Many meetings and discussions were held in 2013 and 2014 to finalize the plan. On October 22, 2014 an election was held to elect the new council. The new council will be: Wade Schott(Head of Council); the six councillors elected were Ryan Beerman, Jeremy Andres, Jack Lenderbeck, Dale Scott, Tom Bowley, and Betty Nykyforak. The name for the new municipality will be finalized before December 31, 2014. The new council takes over on January 1, 2015.
The Town of Roblin serves as the main trading centre for the surrounding municipalities (RM of Shell River and RM of Hillsburg). The total population of Roblin’s trading area is approximately 3,400.
All council meetings are open to the public. In order to speak at a council meeting you must request to be a delegation at the meeting. This is accomplished by phoning the respective council offices and asking to be put on the agenda.
The Town of Roblin Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 9:00 am and on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm at the Town of Roblin Council Chambers.
The RM of Shell River Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the RM of Shell River Council Chambers. Meetings start at 1:30 pm from November to April and at 7:30 am from May to October.
The RM of Hillsburg meets the second Tuesday of each month at the RM of Hillsburg Council Chambers. Meetings start at 8:30 am.
