Report Tagged Fish

If you're fishing Lake of the Prairies and catch a tagged fish, the Fisheries Branch of the department of sustainable development wants to know.

During the recent Russell Lions Prairie Classic Walleye Tournament, provincial fish biologists measured and tagged nearly every fish caught once they were weighed by tournament volunteers. The tags identify the fish and the associated data. If you catch one of these tagged fish, Manitoba Sustainable Development is asking you to contact its District Office in Roblin at 204-937-6452.

Record the location where you made the catch, the length and weight of the fish, and whether or not you released the fish back into the water.

There are no problems with keeping tagged fish, however, the department is asking the public to provide the data. Do not remove the tag if you are releasing the fish.
For more information call the Roblin District Office at 204-937-6452.
