Fishing

The Roblin area, with its abundance of small streams, rivers and lakes is recognized as one of the world’s best areas for fly-fishing.  Catches of brown and rainbow trout measuring up to 30 inches are not uncommon. The 2010 Canadian National Fly Fishing Championship is being held in Roblin and area on May 24-25, 2010.

Popular trout fishing lakes include:
Goose Lake – Roblin
Child’s Lake – Duck Mountain Provincial Park
Blue Lakes – Duck Mountain Provincial Park

Lake of the Prairies was constructed in 1968 by the impounding of the Assiniboine River near Shellmouth, Manitoba.  The Dam was originally built as a flood control measure and is now a premier walleye lake.  The lake is ideal for fishing, boating and wild-life viewing.  A growing cottage industry is developing along Lake of the Prairies, located 5km west of Roblin.

Other popular fishing (for walleye, perch and northern pike) lakes include:
Child’s Lake – Duck Mountain Provincial Park
Blue Lakes – Duck Mountian Provincial Park
Laurie Lake – Duck Mountain Provincial Park
Gull Lake – Duck Mountain Provincial Park
